Fringe-Eared Oryx - Commissioned Acrylic by Alison Nicholls

Fringe-eared Oryx        original acrylic commission by Alison Nicholls
During my stay at the African People & Wildlife Fund conservation project in July, I also visited Tarangire National Park, to sketch the lovely Fringe-eared Oryx, in order to complete this commission. The distant hills are taken from another sketch I did that same afternoon after we found the oryx. Those of you familiar with my work may know that it is unusual for me to include any recognizable landscape features in my paintings. But commissions are very different to paintings produced only to my own requirements. I don't do many commissions but every now and again I find them refreshing, partly because my opinion is not the only one that counts in considering the final success of the piece.

I'm looking forward to seeing this oryx painting framed and hanging in its new home!

If you are interested in commissioning your own personal artwork, please feel free to call or drop me an email.

Until next time...
